Tips for Staying Focused at Work During the Holidays

How is it already December? The holidays are an exciting and busy time, but with so much to get done it can also be a very distracting time. When you’re at the office, you may find your mind drifting to the many other items you need to get done before the holidays like purchasing groceries, finding the perfect gifts, sending holiday cards, etc.

Here are some tips for staying focused at work during the holidays.

  1. Create a to-do list. If you haven’t been the type of person to have a to-do list in the past, the holiday season may be a good time to try keeping one. Adding the tasks you want to accomplish to a to-do list can be a great way to clear your mind. Seeing all the things you want to accomplish written down can help you prioritize what needs to get done first and what can wait.
  2. Keep exercising! Have you used the holidays as an excuse to exercise less? Try not to do that this year! Make the time to keep exercising through the holidays, even if it’s just bundling up and walking around the block. As we know, exercise can help alleviate stress and help you sleep, which is also very important.
  3. Remember what the holidays are all about. As you are managing the stress of the holidays, remember why you are doing all of these tasks. The holiday season is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Take the time to enjoy their company and have some holiday fun!
